Getting on down with DOT

If you’ve noticed lately I’ve been let loose with a brush and paint on some pretty special pieces last week. I’ve been totally enjoying a collaboration with local artisan furniture makers, Dirty Old Town. Dirty Old Town carefully source rare reclaimed timbers from our local area, then design and hand make unique pieces of Furniture and other homely goods. Each piece is a one off that will never be re-created or mass produced. Everything they do is really beautiful, solid, exquisitely made and totally unique.

There’s a live warmth from timber, especially reclaimed timber as it has a character, like vintage furniture, it has stories to tell. If you haven’t found them yet, be sure to check them out here, here and also at Bangalow markets.

We met when we were both in the first Northern Rivers Creatives Pop Up Show and we have been wanting to collaborate in some way since…we began making a few signs and then just recently they were kind enough to trust me with a beautiful coffee table!

I’ve been working on some new designs, which will feature as new prints (I can’t decide whether they will be etchings or screen prints…or ..yea, might take some time!) so I couldn’t help try them out on these beautiful timbers and couldn’t help putting up a progress post with some images of the table and coasters!

If you like the pieces I’ve been working on, they’ll be available from Dirty Old Town’s showroom very very soon, or just get in touch with them to pre-order or order your very own, custom made just for you!
