Mural Commission

Some images from a recent mural commission for the new Lismore Base Hospital Children’s Ward. A group of local artists were commission to develop and install murals in the new ward.

The work is titled Moon Garden and depicts a stylized herb garden. Healing plants grow amongst the garden beds in soft and muted colours. Flowers bloom and seed pods form, ferns and leaves grow quietly in the dreamy landscape amongst bush rocks and hills.  Moths are attracted to the moon and flutter closer to the soft light.

Inspired by the healing properties of various herbs found in the medicinal garden, the design was first sketched and drawn from plants from the garden then translated into simplified graphics and executed in block colours, drawing attention to their simple but beautiful shapes and forms.
