Doughnuts, Blockies & Burnouts

Doughnuts, Blockies and Burn Outs feature in Darren’s new show ‘Boy’s Own’ (The Hoon Series) opening tomorrow night at the Lismore Regional Gallery.

Opening at 5.30pm, Friday 8th February and on show until 7th April 2013 – in the Upstairs gallery.
Lismore Regional Gallery
131 Molesworth Street Lismore

The show features new work by Darren which continue the narrative in previous work, “For me the archive of Australian popular culture provides us with some interesting perspectives that alert us to the role of ‘cultural lenses’ in the representation of identity.”

Bryant explores and questions ideas about social, cultural & historical inherited gender stereotypes formed in childhood, through play. His work often explores the connection between innocent play, war games and collecting, as well as social norms and accepted or expected expressions of identity.

Images of the works will be added to our gallery section soon.
